So long story short - some developers want to sell the land around the Hollywood sign and build commercial buildings and million dollar mansions, ruining the iconic Hollywood sign view. Some activists covered the sign with "SAVE THE PEAK" and for one of the few times in history, the city of Los Angeles ALLOWED them to do this. The sign was only covered up for a few days. But it was very interesting watching it unfold from our office windows.
